DailyUI 024 – Boarding Pass
As much fun as I’m having with these illustrations, I figured I couldn’t go hardcore every time. The last two I really overdid it with ideas, trying out several different things before settling on something. So this time I decide to keep it simple. The information behind this boarding pass is from a personal flight itinerary from last year, with some potentially sensitive information hidden.
The first step was to create the airplane. A fairly simple shape, but it was quite a thing to create for someone not really familiar with Illustrator’s different tools. It’s basically a frankenstein of shapes. In hindsight I wish I made the rear wing a bit broader though. It looks quite thin in comparison to the front wing.
Again I go with the grainy shading technique. I’m really quite fond of this style and I want to play around with it a lot more to perfect it. I also added a slight long shadow behind the plane, haven’t really used those in a while. As I was afraid it might have looked a bit dull, I added a world map behind the plane to really hit home that you’re going travelling.
The overall colour scheme is taken from Finnair’s branding. Simply because that was the company this itinerary came from. I refrained from using their logo because I didn’t want to risk any potential confusion. Fonts are once again DIN Alternative Bold.
The clouds in the background were added merely because I felt like it. That’s all for now. Peace.
