IN SHORT
✸
Set up a design workflow that can work with or without a designer, ensuring the company can stay within budget
⚙︎
Created a complete admin tool experience that made clients’ workflows simpler

Saw an immediate increase in revenue for the company even before full go-live
EXISTING PROBLEMS
– No previous design expertise had been utilised, creating a management forward
approach
– A solid foundational idea was created, but there was no understanding of how to
breathe it to life
– Extremely limited budget meant that both design and tech needed to be
thoroughly thought through
HYPOTHESIS
– Utilising ready-made design libraries meant we could cut down on both design
and development time, which meant considerably lower costs
– No budget for proper testing and validation meant we had to iterate fast, using
the clientele that already existed
– The complexity of the tool meant that we could take a desktop-first approach,
saving on mobile development costs

Understanding and validating
Deep diving into what made Påmind them in the first place was key in finding who exactly this tool was for – the end consumer. This would shape how we designed and emphasised certain parts of the system.
However, as the actual users of the tool were going to be the business partners of Påmind, we had to validate with them fast, and often, to make sure that what we created made sense and was easy to use.
Simplicity from complexity
The tool in its essence was very complex, with the ability to create a multitude of templates and patterns that were meant for reuse. As it’s also tied to live data, we had to find ways to implement external APIs in a way that made sense for the user.
Future foundation
As Påmind was in its very early days, with yet a limited budget, we had to ensure that the base was strong enough to not only work on its own but also easy to dive into as a future designer.

The results
Through extremely close collaboration with both Product Owner and developers, we built an incredibly complex tool in a very short time. This was made possible by idea sharing, prototype building and workshopping fast and often, with proper task sharing and strong team work.
We had early client buy-in and live testers from collaborative partners, and even before we fully went live with the service we started seeing increased conversion which meant increased revenue.
