DailyUI 040 – Recipe
I’m skipping writing about challenge 39 because I just had fun with it and there’s not a lot to say. But please check it out on my Instagram!
With that out of the way, here’s a very late challenge #40. As it was Easter holidays since last Friday here in Sweden, I completely forgot I had received one of these! But here I am catching up.
I don’t cook food very often, even though I do enjoy it. When I do cook though, I like making something nice and a place I often turn to is Fit Men Cook! Not only because the recipes are good, but they’re often catered towards being much healthier alternatives to your standard recipes. So today’s design comes with an homage to one of the first recipes of theirs I tried. It’s also the last one I will make in exclusively in Illustrator!
The goal here was to highlight the most important parts of the recipe. First and foremost a compelling image of the finished product, with the name hovering on top. Since the website focuses a lot on healthiness and people working out, I figured having the macros high up and easily visible would be important. The red here is taken from the red bell peppers in the image.
Under that I divided the information in two sections. To the left I put the ingredients with check boxes. The idea here is to have it as a constant on the side so you can always see it and go back to it as you go through the process. The check boxes I put there to remind yourself what ingredients you’ve used or finished preparing.
The right section are the steps. Nothing fancy here, just a step by step process. I put a scroll bar there to show that there’s more to it than what I put here, I didn’t want to show off the entire process.
All in all this was a very simple one. I could have placed a favourite icon or something up in the upper right hand corner or next to the name of the recipe. Maybe even added a way to open up a quick timer or something.
