DailyUI 037 – Weather
If there’s anything both the App Store and Play Store are filled to the brim with, it’s weather applications. There are a billion different ways the weather is shown at, so standing out is very difficult these days. And after a long day of work, I decided that I’d rather not focus on standing out, but trying to make something cohesive and informative.
What I ended up with was, in my opinion, a cluttered mess. I feel like I could have skipped the previous and next day temperatures, or if I’d keep them I should have not made them stick out so much. They take away attention from what’s important to the viewer, which is the current temperature and weather.
The icon was inspired by the new Google weather icons you see on a mobile when searching for the weather. In hindsight I really shouldn’t have made the cloud split into two sections with gradients. I don’t like it at all. The moon with the shadow was nice I think, but it would probably have been neater if the cloud itself was a singular colour and having the moon pop out beneath it.
Below I put a graph showing the changing of the temperature over the course of the day. This is where I lazied out the most, which is why you see rounded edges and then sharp edges all of a sudden. Sometimes you’re just too tired to focus.
